The Basics
I'm Lauren, an eighteen year old college student and writer. I am currently attending Miami University (of Ohio) as an English-Creative Writing major. I plan on graduating in four years, then attending a school in Boston, Massachusets to study publishing. I'd love to be a literary agent or work in a publishing house, and someday I hope to be a published author.
The Writing
I've been into writing for only a couple of years now. I dabbled every once and a while starting in middle school, but really got into it when I was fifteen. I completed my first story that year; it's basically a long short story, or maybe a novella, I wrote in a notebook during my study halls that year in school. After that I started writing a bit more, but was never that into it until I found the Young Writers Society (youngwriterssociety.com). YWS gave me the drive I needed to really fall in love with writing.
In my writing career thus far I have completed one year of National Novel Writing Month madness, finished off a few short stories, and am in the process of writing a YA Fantasy novel titled Eventide.
The Young Writers Society
As a part of the Young Writers Society, I'm not only an active member of the site (when my schedule permits) but I am a Junior Moderator and I run a pretty successful (in my opinion) Page through the site titled Your Novel. I try to bring the novelists of the site together to gripe and moan about writing a novel, and share their successes and inspiration as well. I'm also trying to get back into the swing of reviewing on the site so I can help other young writers improve their skills as mine have improved through this site.
